The Crown Inn

The Crown Inn is still closed, unfortunately.  However, if you fancy running a pub in a lovely building within a bustling little Cotswold town, in a gorgeous location, then maybe this is an opportunity for you.  The pub is owned by Enterprise Inns and they are advertising on their web site for a new tenant.

More Film Locations

Hard on the heels of The Casual Vacancy (in which Minchinhampton Market House featured as the location for the family party, and the polling station) we also have Chavenage House, near Tetbury, as the Cornish family home of one of the Poldarks.  Chavenage is open to the public on selected days from May onwards, so if you are a Poldark fan, come along and see it close up.   The other programme filmed nearby is Cider with Rosie which was filmed in the Slad Valley, just north of Stroud.

Minchinhampton Film Location for The Casual Vacancy

Sunday 15th February at 9pm on BBC1 (and the next 2 Sundays)

The Casual Vacancy Filming in Minchinhampton

There was excitement last summer when the BBC came to Minchinhampton to film part of The Casual Vacancy, a mini-series based on the book by JK Rowling.  The fictional town of Pagford was shot in a number of Cotswold towns and villages including Minchinhampton, Painswick, Bisley and Northleach.  The shop normally called Woefuldane Organic Dairy was changed to 'Pagford News' and the real Newsagent was changed to look like a bakery.   Look out for shots of Minchinhampton High Street including the Crown and the Market House.

The Casual Vacancy is scheduled to be shown on BBC1, starting on Sunday 15th February at 9pm.

The new Cotswold Vintage Shopping Trail

The Close B&B is mentioned in Homes and Antiques Magazine this month (February Issue).  This four page article explores the retail shops in Nailsworth, Stroud and Painswick.  It includes lots of my favourite shops, including 'Time after Time' - a vintage shop at the top of Stroud High Street - mentions the fabulous Stroud Farmers' Market (Saturday mornings), and also picks up on the fact that Nailsworth has lots of interesting shops also, and Painswick (a few miles north of Stroud) is so pretty, as well as having a few lovely shops, that it is well worth a visit.
